3. Fly Geyser – Nevada

Drive 2½ hours from Reno and you arrive on the Fly Geyser. This occurred because there was drilled in 1964  for the geothermal energy sources. Minerals came from the hole to form this bizarre combination. The Fly Geyser is usually on the private property so try not to climb over the high fences that enclose it. But the geyser is so extensive that you can easily make a beautiful picture from the road.

4. Mono Lake – California 

From the moment you see Mono Lake, you will  think you’ve landed on another planet. The Snow-capped mountains are  surrounded by the salty blue lake that is much tuff (volcanic stone material) and limestone columns formed by the salt content in the water.

It took millions of years before the wind Navajo sandstone in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Arizona eroded to create this hallucinating, very photogenic formation.

6. Glass Beach – Fort Bragg, C

This looks smaller than small when you stand beside a sequoia. These trees are as big as a football field as  long as well. The biggest of the bunch is the General Sherman Tree – this is about 83 meters into the sky and is said to be about 2500 years old.

9. Thor’s Well – Oregon

If you go an hour after the flood to Oregon’s Cape Perpetua, then you can expect a great show at Thor’s Well. The saltwater fountain makes his show from the force of the tide and is very dangerous. So you can  always enjoy this from a safe distance.

10. Mendenhall Glacier Caves – Alaska

If you are even in Juneau, Alaska, you can take a trip to the caves or on your list. The ice caves in this 25 kilometer long glacier is in  the heart of Mendenhall Valley  which gives you the feeling that you are walking through a tunnel of glowing clouds.
